GREEN BAY – While a small group of Green Bay Packers fans who had visions of Mario Williams lining up opposite Clay Matthews dancing in their heads were a tad disappointed with the news that the biggest name on the free-agent market had landed with the Buffalo Bills Thursday, their quarterback, NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, wasn’t complaining a bit.
In fact, Rodgers expressed his happiness about Williams landing in the AFC East – and not in the NFC North with the Chicago Bears, one of Williams rumored suitors – via his Twitter account (@AaronRodgers12) Thursday morning, in between Tweets about the NCAA men’s basketball tournament: “Congrats to Mario Williams signing in buffalo... far away from the NFC north, thanks big guy.”

Rodgers was also realistic about the team’s free-agency approach, telling one follower, “We Sign a FA every other year, n never in leap years,” when asked why the Packers didn’t pursue Williams.
Shortly after Rodgers congratulated Williams and thanked him for avoiding the Bears, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (@Staff_9) chimed in, re-Tweeting Rodgers and adding, “Ditto,”
